The present work arises from the discipline Historical and Material Conditions of the production of the Existence of Men and Women in the Brazilian Semiarid, from the Specialization course in Contextualized Education for Living with the Semiarid, from the Center for Sustainable Development of the Semiarid - CDSA / Federal University de Campina Grande - UFCG, Campus Sumé, where the possibilities of working with drawing as a didactic resource were discussed. The action was carried out with students from the 7th grade of Elementary School, 1st and 2nd grade of High School of Youth and Adult Education (EJA) at the State School of Elementary and High School Journalist José Leal Ramos in the municipality of São João do Cariri in Cariri Paraiba. The proposed objectives were: To understand the reasons for the water deficit in the Brazilian semiarid region; Discuss the social and economic difficulties faced by the population that inhabits the region during the dry season; Understand that the causes of social problems in the semiarid region go beyond the lack of water; Demonstrate that the semiarid is not just poverty and lack of water, point out actions for a good coexistence with the semiarid. This work was developed in 2 moments: in the first moment, we developed an expository class with slide presentation in which we present the characteristics of the Brazilian semiarid region. With the help of the lyrics of the songs: “Asa Branca, a volta da Asa Branca” by Luiz Gonzaga and “Música Água de Rain” by Roberto Malvezzi, and a video about the social and economic causes of the drought entitled “Portraits of drought ”. In the second moment, after explaining the content, we divided the class into teams so that the students could produce drawings about what was exposed during the class. It was found that drawing as a pedagogical resource is extremely important in the context of teaching/learning the contents studied in the classroom.
