ROSMANINHOS DO SUL DE PORTUGAL: PERFIL QUÍMICO E PROPRIEDADES BIOLÓGICAS DAS SUAS ESSÊNCIAS

Abstract

As lavandas e rosmaninhos, pertencentes ao género Lavandula apresentam grande importância económica, não só na indústria cosmética e perfumaria como também na indústria alimentar e farmacêutica, pelas suas importantes propriedades biológicas e farmacológicas dos seus óleos essenciais, apesar das diferenças observadas no perfil
químico dos seus óleos essenciais. Estão descritas mais de trinta espécies de Lavandula, algumas que como a L. angustifolia, estão aprovadas pela Comissão Europeia para aplicação em Fitoterapia, no entanto, outras espécies do género Lavandula apresentam também importantes propriedades antioxidantes e antimicrobianas. O Sul de Portugal, devido às suas características com o seu clima Mediterrânico, é rico em plantas aromáticas e medicinais, das quais se destacam três espécies/subspécies autóctones de Lavanda, conhecidos como rosmaninhos, L. luisieri, L. pedunculata e L. viridis. Este estudo visa estudar o perfil químico dos óleos essenciais de L. luisieri, L. pedunculata e L. viridis do Sul de Portugal (Alentejo e Algarve) e correlacionar com as suas propriedades biológicas e farmacológica, validando alguns usos etnofarmacológicos. Pelas suas importantes propriedades antimicrobianas e antioxidantes, os óleos essenciais destas espécies de Lavandula desempenham um papel importante na promoção da saúde humana, sugerindo o seu potencial uso para aplicações farmacológicas como agentes nutracêuticos e/ou fitoterapêuticos.
