Its development occurred in stages, from the theoretical framework, class planning to field visits, emphasizing the theme of Agroecology, especially the importance of medicinal plants linked to indigenous culture, a subject covered in the textbook adopted at that school. It also showed the importance of using active methodologies within the classroom to delve deeper into topics involving traditional knowledge and indigenous communities. In the process of preparing the research, two 7th year students were selected for a visit to the Pitaguary indigenous community (in Maracanaú and Pacatuba located in the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza) with the aim of bringing them closer to other realities that could be shared with others. Students. The socialization of the visit was presented in the form of a scientific work (poster) at the school science fair, in which the importance of promoting mutual knowledge and experiences was noted and highlighting that the university’s approach to basic education has repercussions on the construction of geographic education with criticality and practicality in your daily life.
2024-03-27T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal Semiarid https://journalsemiarid.com/index.php/ijsa/article/view/209 ANALYSIS OF THE USE AND OCCUPATION OF THE GRUTA DO MAGE GEOSITE: CONTRIBUTION TO THE BIOGEOGRAPHY OF THE INSELBERGUES FIELD 2024-03-27T16:48:44-03:00 Nathália Késia Gomes de Souza nathalia.kesia.gomes08@aluno.ifce.edu.br Caroline Vitor Loureiro caroline.loureiro@ifce.edu.br
The Inselbergs of Quixadá, formations carved out of granite rocks, represent crucial ecosystems due to their specific environmental conditions, including a unique microclimate that makes them rich in diversity and distinct vegetational characteristics, giving these landscapes intense exuberance. This research aims to analyze the impacts of land use and occupation on the Gruta do Magé Geosite. Specifically, it seeks to identify existing land uses and occupations and to carry out a preliminary characterization of the flora of the study area. To achieve these objectives, the walking method of Filgueiras et al. (1994) was used. The results indicate various signs of human activity, such as the presence of pastures, deforestation, solid waste on the trail and the dispersal of invasive species, resulting from practices such as agriculture, tourism and recreation. Despite these threats, the preliminary characterization of the flora reveals a remarkable wealth of vegetation on the rocky outcrop and its surroundings. The significant contribution of biogeography in inselbergs stands out, especially in the analysis and protection of biotic and abiotic elements. This approach involves understanding the interaction of these factors, the distribution of species and defining means for conserving biodiversity and geodiversity in these areas. Thus, the research not only highlights the challenges faced by the Magé Cave due to human activities, but also underscores the importance of integrated approaches to preserving these unique ecosystems.
2024-03-28T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal Semiarid https://journalsemiarid.com/index.php/ijsa/article/view/200 AN EXPLANATION OF THE CONCEPT OF LANDSCAPE WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF THE RAIN PROPHETS IN NORTHEAST BRAZIL 2024-03-27T15:09:52-03:00 Eliê Regina Fedel Marques elieregina@gmail.com Helder Aurelio Gomes Liberado helderliberato@hotmail.com Maria Elisa Zanella elisazv22@gmail.com
In the hinterland of Ceará, marked by a semi-arid climate and the scarcity of rainfall, the Prophets of Rain emerge as important figures in the search for predictions and hope for rainfall. These prophets, often using empirical methods and observations of the environment, developed knowledge and practices related to climatic conditions and agriculture. Therefore, the main objective of this scientific work is to understand if there is a correlation between the practices of the rain prophets in northeastern Brazil and the geographical concept of cultural landscape. The present research is classified as exploratory, using data of a secondary nature, with its approach of a qualitative nature, and having as a development technique, the bibliographic review supported mainly by periodicals and books on the theme in question. The main findings are that landscape concepts play a fundamental role in the understanding and interpretation of these practices and beliefs. The aim of this study is to analyze land use and land cover associated with the occurrence of linear erosion in the Quebrado Creek watershed in the municipality of Floresta, Pernambuco. The methodological procedures were based on the analysis of occupation and erosion data in the 8.5 km2 basin through the composition of information and classification of areas for detailed understanding. The main results were the presence of 2,195 erosion segments, with the greatest occurrence associated with areas of exposed soil. This behavior has occurred in accordance with the use and coverage of the land and has been intensified by human activities, even though their environmental conditions cause the appearance of such erosion. Diatoms (phylum Bacillariophyta) are microalgae common in aquatic environments, serving as a crucial foundation for the food web and thereby influencing the dynamics of the entire limnetic community. In a study on local biodiversity and its responses to hydrological dynamics in intermittent streams of the Acaraú River basin, we observed a filamentous mass of periphytic algae that covered almost the entire surface of the substrate in one of the sampling points. The aim of this study was to identify and characterize the occurrence of the mass-forming algae. Samples were collected monthly over five months (May to September 2023) in a permanent stream section (100 m in length) from Mata Seca stream, Sobral-CE. Environmental data were sampled along with manual collection of the algal masses. Dense masses occurred during the flood period, with the average stream depth was 10.2 cm, fast-flowing water (few slow-flow areas), and mainly on sand and gravel substrates. Microscopical observations showed that filamentous masses correspond to diatoms forming long ribbon or zigzag-shaped chains spp. Pleurosira laevis, Eunotia didyma and Eunotia pectinalis. These diatoms were found downstream in the same stream, but in smaller quantities and without mass formation. The occurrence of these species is relevant for distribution and autecology data. Additionally, the high biomasses indicate that upstream parts of the streams are important growth points for these algae, ensuring the possibility of their dispersion throughout the entire watershed.
2024-03-28T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal Semiarid https://journalsemiarid.com/index.php/ijsa/article/view/201 THE IMPORTANCE OF RADIATION IN STUDIES OF HUMAN THERMAL COMFORT IN THE SEMI-ARID AND THE USE OF GLOBE THERMOMETERS TO MEASURE IT. 2024-03-27T15:18:44-03:00 Flávia Ingrid Bezerra Paiva Gomes flavia.ingrid@ifce.edu.br Paulo Ricardo Barboza Gomes gomes.paulo@ifce.edu.br
This work is a literature review on the importance of the climatic variable radiation in studies of human termal comfort, fucosing on its main measurement method: the use of globe thermometers and the formula for mean radiante temperature. The increase in the irrigation water salinity caused a longer time needed for the Gliricidia sepium seeds to germinate, however, the use of organic matter performed as a mitigating factor for the effects caused by the high salt content in the irrigation water when a high frequency of germination was observed in shorter times.
2024-03-28T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal Semiarid https://journalsemiarid.com/index.php/ijsa/article/view/206 NATURAL SCENIC LANDSCAPES AND MODIFICATIONS IN AN URBAN PARK IN SOBRAL – CE 2024-03-27T16:12:46-03:00 Elissandro de Sousa Gomes elissandro.sousa.gomes07@aluno.ifce.edu.br Francisco Bruno Monte Gomes bruno06gomes@gmail.com Lívia Alves de Souza souzalivia341@gmail.com Leidy Dayane Paiva de Abreu dayannepaiva@hotmail.com Erandir Cruz Martins erandir.cruz.martins83@aluno.ifce.edu.br
New social dynamics cause ordering in the urban environment, which undergoes modifications due to the actions of natural phenomena, as well as under the influence of anthropogenic ones. In the case of places intended for walks, hikes, and other activities inherent to social leisure, such as parks, squares and gardens, etc., included in the urban environment, they need to take a look at issues of preserving natural landscapes, ensuring minimal changes possible and maintain the primary characteristics. These issues can cause impacts of different magnitudes, whether due to the reduction in tree diversity, changes in natural resources, imbalance in ecosystems, less contact with green areas, changes in the perception of individuals, visual pollution, low quality of life and others who go against Sustainable Development. Therefore, the research aims to describe the changes with the temporal recovery of the landscapes as a spatial outline in an Urban Park in the Municipality of Sobral - CE after requalification. This is an exploratory-descriptive field research carried out in the second half of 2023. In this sense, this article aims to present and analyze the temporal progressions of the human relationship with nature, mainly in Brazil, until the present day. Its specific objectives are: 1) Research and identify the temporal progression that involves the relationship between humans and nature; and, 2) Identify the emergence of this relationship in this historical period, as well as the relationship with the concepts of decoloniality. The methodology adopted is based on qualitative research, intertwined with dialogic hermeneutics, forming a powerful coalition for this type of approach, as it is characterized by the analysis of interpretation, comparison and exposure of data. It involves bibliographical research, which presents powerful evidence regarding the appropriation of nature by humans, especially after the First and Second Industrial Revolutions. Secondary data obtained from the Cadernos de Conflitos no Campo, an annual publication by the Pastoral Land Commission on land conflicts and the agents involved, was used. From this data, maps, tables and graphs were constructed with more recent information (2012 to 2022). It was found that there is a set of conflicts, analyzed here as socio-territorial conflicts, in which the major economic activities in Amapá (mining/garimo, hydroelectric dams, agribusiness, logging businesses) directly rival the use of territory with peasant squatters and other traditional populations. E. M. Wilebaldo Aguiar and also to carry out an analysis of the use and reuse of solid waste. In addition to a bibliographical survey to provide a basis for the research, other processes also took place to carry out the study at school. The processes worked on in the months of August, September, October and November were: observations, interviews, project participation and construction of the EA experience report. We aim to understand how environmental education is inserted in the school environment. In a more specific way, we continue by analyzing the inclusion of Environmental Education in the school's Pedagogical Political Project – PPP; of students' behavior inside and outside the classroom, linked to the disposal of solid waste and, finally, the analysis of how environmental education is implemented in the daily life of the school. Therefore, with the methodological procedure carried out, the objectives achieved, we ended the research concluding that the school has been in operation for 100 years, and after this entire process we see that it is following the process of evolution over time, it is very concerned with the evolution of students, but we also see that the issue of projects aimed at environmental education have still little mobilization and students, even though they are in a modern world, with advanced technologies, few are aware of the consequences of their actions in the environment. The study carried out on Environmental Education was of great relevance, as it is a debate that becomes urgent with each passing day to read the world. The increase in consumption in urban life and the production of disposable products and packaging generates a large amount of waste whose poor disposal becomes an extreme concern. Therefore, exploring processes to encourage the use of innovative and low-cost technologies in rural areas is crucial, especially for the rational use of water. In recent years, the Government of the State of Ceará has invested in Rural Extension Projects that benefit rural inhabitants. In this regard, during a training session for the implementation of an agroecological system in the municipality of Madalena, Ceará, in 2022, approximately 25 family farmers learned to make micro-sprinklers using lollipop sticks for incorporation into an irrigation system. After the manufacturing process, the sprinklers were inserted into tertiary hoses with the help of a rudimentary tool made from a piece of wood and a nail, and the irrigation system was turned on for 15 minutes to check its functionality. Farmers realized that the effort was worthwhile and were impressed by the efficiency of the homemade sprinklers. Some mentioned that they would use the micro-sprinklers not only in Madalena but throughout their irrigated production, as they found that they could reduce irrigation system costs by replacing commercially bought sprinklers with lollipop stick alternatives. In conclusion, rural extension is fundamental in the process of rural development and agricultural activities. Additionally, the acceptance of efficient and low-cost technology by farmers in Ceará suggests that such measures should be widely disseminated as a simplified and appropriate solution, especially for the water deficit in the region.
2024-04-08T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal Semiarid https://journalsemiarid.com/index.php/ijsa/article/view/220 BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION: AN ANALYSIS OF THE MOTIVATIONS OF OWNERS OF PRIVATE RESERVES, CEARÁ 2024-04-08T14:52:13-03:00 Andréa de Sousa Moreira andrea.moreira@sema.ce.gov.br Jader de Oliveira dos Santos jader.oliveira@ufc.br
The Private Natural Heritage Reserve - RPPN is a conservation unit created privately on
the initiative of owners who voluntarily decided to protect biodiversity in the long term.
The results of this study, based on data from official government platforms, interviews
and visits to the RPPN in Cariri and Sertão dos Inhamuns, created between 2014 and
2021, present the main reasons for the creation.
2024-04-08T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal Semiarid https://journalsemiarid.com/index.php/ijsa/article/view/218 THE IMPORTANCE OF SOIL MAPPING FOR THE PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT OF GEOGRAPHIC SPACE.
